FAQ

My name is Android Jones and this site is run by myself and a small team of Droids. We create all of our prints in-house.

It's a simple equation; time is my most valuable possession and making art is the best use of my time. I sell my art so I can buy back more of my time that I will spend making more art. I love when you buy my art because it is what enables me to create more art for you and the world to enjoy.

Prices are based on creating a sustainable equation that covers the price of equipment, ink, paper and the labor it takes to make these prints and other goods available, as well as to supply the stability we need to fulfill your requests in the realm of printing and making new art.

In the late 1900s as digital print makers were trying to add more perceived value to large format high quality printing they were unsatisfied with the name "Inkjet" so they invented a new world that sounded much fancier, and that word was 'giclee'.

Prints are created using HP printers. In my 15 years as a digital artist I have seen thousands of prints from a variety of different machines. I have also been around long enough to see prints fade and deteriorate with time. I did years of research before investing in these printers. I use inks guaranteed to last over 200 years and if kept out of direct sunlight, the prints look awesome well after you are looking at this world from the other side. I have tried to make the prices as accessible as possible. If you have never invested in a work of art before, I would like to do what I can to be your first.

I print with archival inks guaranteed to last for 200 years or more on high quality fine art paper and canvas. In other words, the prints will not only look amazing, they may outlive your human lifespan.

A 'limited edition' is a piece of art hand signed and numbered by the artist, in the form (eg): 14/100. The first number is the number of the print itself. The second number is the number of overall prints the artist will print of that image. The lower the second number is, the more valuable and collectible the limited editions are. A small number of "artist's proofs" may also be produced as well, signed with "AP" or "proof" etc. Each limited edition print will also be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that details the number of the print in the edition, as well as the signature and original thumbprint of Android in order to avoid any counterfeit prints.

Most of my work is created first by a sketch and then transferred to the digital realm where I then use an extra large Wacom tablet and pen. The main software is Corel, Painter, Adobe Photoshop, Z-brush and the Unreal Engine.

Most artwork ships in 3 weeks or less.  If you have an event, birthday, or special occasion and you require the print to arrive at a specific time please reach out to see if we can accommodate your deadline in advance of placing your order.

Unsigned prints can ship out within a few days upon request.
However, the caliber and originality of Android's art is dependent on his ability to travel and fitting a 400 pound printer is beyond what most airlines allow. Seeing that signed artwork is as important to you as it is to us, if Android is away traveling when we receive your order we ask for your patience to wait until he returns.
If you have any questions please email: sara@androidjones.com

Shipping costs for stretched canvas can rival the costs of materials and labor involved in stretching canvas prints. Therefore we choose to ship canvas prints un-streched, with 2 inch gallery wrap borders. Prints will arrive rolled in a tube. Your local frame shops can professionally stretch and frame these prints.

We can create custom-sized prints. If there is something you would like but that you are not seeing available in the store, please email carly@androidjones.com.
For any special requests we will send you a bid estimate of costs.
